St. Matthew's

Evangelical Lutheran Church

The Holy Trinity

We believe in one, eternal and almighty God, who is revealed in the Holy Scriptures as three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe in the Father as the creator of all that exists; in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who became human to suffer and die for the sins of all human beings and to rise to life again in the ultimate victory over death and Satan; and in the Holy Spirit, who sustains life and creates faith through God's Word and Sacraments.

We BelieveThe Bible

We believe that all the canonical Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, as a whole and in all their parts, are the inspired Word of God, inerrant as originally given, and through which God still speaks; we joyfully submit to them as the only source of the Church's doctrine and the authoritative standard for the faith and life of the Church.

The Holy Gospel

We believe the Gospel is the revelation of God's saving will and grace in Jesus Christ, which he imparts through Word and Sacrament. Through these means of grace the Holy Spirit creates believers and unites them with their Lord and with one another in the fellowship of the Holy Christian Church.
